College Football Week 5 Recap

This week both the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish won each of their games.  Penn State beat the Indiana Hoosiers 45-14 this week.  Trace McSorley had a fantastic week with 315 passing yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception.  Nittany Lions' wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton finally played well for the first time this year.  He had 122 yards with 3 touchdowns.  Saquon Barkley kept up his Heisman campaign with 221 all purpose yards; 98 return yards, 56 rushing yards, 51 receiving yards, and 16 passing yards.  Yes that's right!  I said passing yards.  Saquon Barkley even threw a touchdown this week!  He had 3 Heisman caliber plays, a one handed catch in the backfield and then ran ten yards, a 98 yard kick return for a touchdown, and a passing touchdown.  The Indiana Hoosiers' passing game was awful this weekend, but the rushing was not too bad with three people over 45 rushing yards.  The Nittany Lions continued the fantastic season this week and can hopefully continue for the rest of the season.

This week, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat the Miami (OH) RedHawks 52-17.  Brandon Wimbush had trouble completing passes but still scored 3 passing touchdowns this week with only 119 yards passing.  Josh Adams had a great week with 159 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 8 carries.  The receivers played alright but still could've played much better, especially Equanimeous St. Brown.  St. Brown has to step up for the Irish to be considered a top tier football team.  The Notre Dame defense played well with 7 players having 4 or more tackles.  Greer Martini played especially well with a huge pick and 5 tackles.  Nick Watkins, the number one cornerback, covered RedHawks' receiver James Gardner.  Gardner killed Watkins.  Watkins could not cover him.  This is worrying for the remainder of our secondary.  Gus Ragland, Miami's quarterback, played pretty well with 262 yards and 2 touchdowns.  If the Irish defense can play like that every week, they can be hard to beat.  Watch out Trojans!

I had my first perfect prediction this week.  I predicted the score and who would win in the Washington State vs USC game.  That game was exciting to watch and I was very proud to have predicted it.  The Clemson game was not as exciting with the Tigers winning by 14 points.  I predicted all of the wins right this week.  I hope to do as well for the remainder of the season as I did this week.
